What a responsible archive needs
Each image should identify its owner or collection, creator where known, approximate date, place, caption source, rights status and any restrictions on reuse.
Before sharing
Do not assume an image found through Google is free to use. Ask the owning archive or organisation for permission, retain attribution, and do not crop out an existing credit.
Contribute carefully
If you hold an image, preserve the original scan and its reverse-side notes. Submit a copy with provenance for review; publication should wait until rights and description are verified.
